Cutem · Piedras Negras, Coahuila

Since 2000, the same idea

A good diagnosis is worth little if the treatment can't be found afterwards. Cutem opened with that in 2000. It still runs on it.

Treatment being applied to the skin
  1. 2000

    How it started

In 2000, Dr. Catalina Morales Quintero, a dermatologist trained at UNAM and Centro Médico Nacional La Raza, opened a practice in Piedras Negras with a dermatological pharmacy next door. It wasn't common. The logic was simple: the patient left the consultation and filled the prescription at the same door, with someone who knew what had been prescribed and why.

  2. Compounded formulas

What wasn't on the shelf got formulated

From the start, part of the work was preparing compounded formulas: treatments made for one skin, not for the average. That practice gave rise to the CUTEM line and, for hair, to Capilarium. They're still prescription or physician-directed; they're formulated after the doctor has seen you.

  3. Coahuila and Texas

    Both sides of the border

Piedras Negras and Eagle Pass share a bridge and, for years now, patients. That's why there's a US phone line and the three doctors see patients in English.

  4. Technology

    Congresses, not catalogs

The medical team attends international congresses in clinical and aesthetic dermatology and devices. That's where it's decided which technology enters the clinic and which doesn't. Ultherapy, Nd:YAG laser, Dermapen and Hydrafacial arrived that way: after seeing them work.
